If you are in business and you don’t have a website, then to me your not a real business.
Fail To Plan, Plan To Fail………
I see a lot of clients every week and it always amazes me how many of them don’t have a website in the 21st century.
We sit down together and do a business review and I find it unbelievable that they are using every other means of promoting their business (mainly Facebook) but they have not taken the time to create a proper online identity “Claim your online real estate”, I cry when I speak to these people.
Now I’m not saying that having a website is the be all and end all of all existence but if you are in business and you don’t have a website, then to me your not a real business.
If you fail to plan you always fail
I’ve seen a lot of successful business people who had no idea how they were acquiring customers but for the majority of businesses you have to start with a strategy that drives customers to your business.
If you don’t have a strategy to drive customers to your business, then you are planning to fail.
Marketing a business can be such a minefield with the amount of options available to you, if you are thinking of using a website then decide how you are going to use it to improve your business or sales
You have to have a website especially if your a local business offering services to a 5 mile radius or more.

I see a website as a way of cementing a relationship with your customers it allows you to showcase to your products or services 24 hours of the day 7 days a week, unlike Facebook which for me is still too social, nothing wrong with having a FB business page but for me a website shows a real organisation
A business website can be used by you and your potential customers for a wide range of things like
* Customer data acquisition
* Order placing
* Finding a number for a Phone enquiry
* Request for more information
* Product or brochure launch
The list is endless, can you think of some other ways that a website can be used for a business?
You may have a Facebook business’s page or be on Instagram but if you are in business and you about to embark In the online world then in my opinion a website should always sit in the middle of any other marketing that you are doing.
Using A Website To Make Money
Monetizing a website depends on what kind of business your in but it is pretty simple to do and can be a really good way of driving additional revenue to your business.
There are lots of different products or services that you could offer and I’m not going to go into all of them here but let’s have a look at an example
Your a Plumber, you’ve been smart enough to get a website built and now your wondering how you can get your website to help you create more revenue.
One idea could be to offer an emergency call out option, where the customer could pay on credit card on your website, this in turn would email you to let you know that there is an important job and once you have received payment you can quickly be on your way to the customer.
Another way to monetize your website is that you become an affiliate with a local plumbers merchants, maybe you could offer there top products on your website for a commission on everything sold.
I’m going off on a tangent now but you can see what I’m getting at.
How many other ways can you think of that a traditional business could monetize their website?
Using A Website To Communicate
Using a website to communicate is one of the reasons the Internet has been such a success, people have been able to say what they want and how they want in whatever form possible.
Having a business website allows you to communicate with your customers more effectively, if you sell a lot of products they can all be listed in one place, if you have a new product launch you can get your customers to go to one location to see them.
Business that don’t have a website have trouble communicating with their customers, their customers have trouble finding and communicating with them, what do these customers do when they can’t find you, well they go off and spend their money with somebody else.
